There is always a first time

There is always a first time

Yesterday (16th of August 2024) after traveling some 150km I wanted to find a nice spot close to a river. So I searched for streams and rivers on Google Maps first with standard view, then with satellite view:

The goal was to see if we could go and stay somewhere along the river on the path highlighted in yellow in the pictures. Badly, once we arrived at the houses you can see almost in the middle of the picture, there was a “private road” sign. So, I stopped the bus and tried knocking on some doors to ask if we could go anyway. Nobody answered…

Unfortunately, there was no way to make a U-turn on the road. So, I decided to make a U-turn by moving my front wheels off the road while keeping the rear ones on the road. I misjudged our bus’s (short) length and ended up moving the rear wheels off the road as well, into dry but sandy soil… We tried to put some wood under the wheels, but everything we did only made the bus sink more and more. Before it was too late, I decided to stop and walk to find someone who could possibly help. We were extremely lucky because 1.5 km away, there was a really kind farmer who came to the rescue with his tractor. I wanted to give him something in return, but all he accepted was a “thank you”! There are still a lot of kind people in this world 😅.

After that, I was very tired and just wanted to find a safe place for the night. We drove to the closest parking lot in a little village… lucky again, it was the yearly party of the place! We ended up partying with them, and the most tired was the one who stayed up until 2 am… guess who?

Morality: my mistake was made at the right place and made me remember that I'm 8t and not 2t ;-)
